About Utopidy

Utopidy (The Utopian Dystopian) is an independent blog launched in December 2025 by myself, Christian Polak. It features a wide range of topics for discussion and debate, but some central themes will come up such as addiction, recovery, homelessness and social concerns. And what better time to jump in when society as we know it is changing so rapidly!

But in addition to those hard hitting topics (and more) it will include harrowing, or even at time funny tales from my fall from society and grace. Cautionary tales of and experiences that shaped who I am today.

For quite some years now I have been searching for purpose, as I believe that purpose is key to beating addiction and having a meaningful life and place in modern society. This site is the beginning of my purpose, and I am just at the beginning of my journey into true recovery. As such, this site is in its infancy and though I have big plans for it, the beginnings are very basic and humble.

If you choose to subscribe, you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. Subscription is free, and I hope that at least the blog entries can remain that way as long as I can afford to live and maintain the site. As the site becomes more robust (such as adding commenting, and a newsletter) I will probably introduce a paid tier so that I can continue to work on this project full time.

Additionally, since I am a musician (cellist) there will be a musical component to the site, but I have not figured that out yet!

Finally, do hope eventually to make this a community based site, with invited authors and maybe even admins so I can get many voices and perspectives.
