About Utopidy

I created Utopidy as a place where the utopian meets the dystopian, and hardship meets hope. The name itself is my own combination of utopian and dystopian, because I've come to believe that life is lived somewhere between the two. I've long believed that light has little meaning without the context of darkness.

In my own life, I have experienced much of both, as I'm sure many of you have. For now, this site gives me purpose as I continue my recovery from addiction. A meaningful part of that journey is sharing my return to a passion that has shaped my life since childhood: the cello.

Over time, I'll write about the many subjects that have fascinated me throughout my life—music, technology, philosophy, recovery, and whatever else captures my curiosity. Along the way, I hope you'll come to know the many different facets of who I am, whether they lean toward the utopian or the dystopian.

My hope is that Utopidy (you-TOW-pid-dee) will eventually become more than my own voice. I want it to grow into a place where others can share their stories, ideas, and experiences—a community of thinkers, tinkerers, musicians, philosophers, and anyone searching for meaning in an imperfect world.

I hope you'll choose to stay as a reader and supporter, and one day perhaps as a commenter or even a contributing author. Or even just swing by and say "hi" when I'm out playing my cello. There is much yet to come.

Welcome, and may you always find some light in the darkness.

Your builder and author,
Christian Polak
